The Music of Georges Aperghis

The Florence Kopleff Recital Hall at Georgia State University
Monday, March 15, 2010
8:00 PM

The delightfully idiosyncratic works of French composer Georges Aperghis are recognized as some of the most groundbreaking combinations of the theatrical and musical worlds.  Special guest artist, New York soprano Haleh Abghari, will be performing Recitations, a virtuosic tour de force, and La Nuit en Tete, a chamber work with fleeting and provocative evocations of nocturnal imaginings.  The program will also feature the dynamic Graffitis for solo percussion, and Simata for prepared piano.

This concert is presented in conjunction with the Odysseia Symposium at the Center for Hellenic Studies at Georgia State University.

*Funded by The French American Fund for Contemporary Music, a program of the French American Cultural Exchange (FACE) program with major support from SACEM and BMG Music Publishing, and by the Center for Collaborative and International Arts (CENCIA) at Georgia State University.
